Lefkada Greece Holiday Beach Photo Guide.

Photographs from around the Greek Island of Lefkas showing some of the beaches available to use whilst on holiday on Lefkada, Greece.

The Greek Island of Lefkada beaches below were visited during our May 2007 holiday - as can be seen from the black clouds on some of the photos the weather on the island was somewhat wet, thundery and even stormy at times with often heavy clouds covering the mountains in the centre of the island, and these clouds frequently spilled over onto the coasts. The beaches therefore do appear a little dark on some photos.

As far as dress code on Lefkas's beaches, as is normal on the smaller more isolated beaches often found on Greek Islands those that arrive first set the scene - i.e. if nudists arrive first then the beach will probably be a nudist beach etc. Some beaches are so long that there is plenty of room for all, for instance the apparently separate beaches from Meghali Petra going north to Kathisma are pretty well all joined up so in reality the whole stretch of coast is pretty well one huge beach.

We used the beach at Kathisma a lot - the first part of the beach is very much sun chairs, umbrellas and so on and not nudist however walk along south a little and go past several huge rocks which are sat on the beach and then you can strip off without bothering anybody. Our visit was early in the season so things were very quiet anyway but presumably the beach does segregate itself into nudist and not-nudist once things get busier.
The other beach we really likes was way down south at Ghialos - this is a lovely beach but the problem is getting to it. There is surfaced road so far from Athani but then it's track - this is ok to drive but very windy and to get to Athani in the first place you have a huge drive to do especially if you are coming from Nidhri or Vassiliki.

Nidhri Beach Lefkas Lefkada beache Photos - Nidhri Skala Ghialou Beach Lefkas Lefkada Beaches - Skala Ghialou Beach
Nidhri Beach - there are several beaches to the north of the town Nidhri - mostly pebble and sand mix Skala Ghialou - pebble and rock Skala Ghialou - remote and rugged

Potisies Beach - sunshades etc and more or less joins with Pefkoulia to the south Aghios Nikitas Beach - lots of tavernas etc and gets really busy especially on weekends Kathisma Beach. Lots of sun umbrellas and beach chairs - sandy beach You can get to Kathisma beach by road - lots of parking but it's needed especially on weekends
Lefkas Beach Photos - Kathisma Kathisma beach - lots of room for nudists Ghaidharos Beach Theotokos beach
Kathisma beach connects all the way down to at least Stous Pilous by beach walking Go left on Kathisma and there is lots of room for nudists Ghaidharos Beach south of Kathisma Theotokos Beach - some shady areas under the trees
Lefkas - Theotokos Beach Stous Pilous Beach Lefkas - Kavalikefta Beach Lefkada Beaches - Kavalikefta Beach
Theotokos Beach - sandy with some shingle - deserted in early season Stous Pilous - lots of space for everyone in the various beach-let areas of this coastline Kavalikefta Beach - wild and rugged but it's a long twisty drive down from the main road to get too Kavalikefta has some parking - then a steep walk down to the beach - and a steep walk up later.
Meghali Petra Beach Ghialos Beach Lefkada - Ghialos Beach Ghialos - deserted Lefkas Beaches
Meghali Petra Beach - the last of the series joined up to Kathisma Ghialos Beach - loved this deserted beach but it is a very long drive to get too. Ghialos - perfect for nude sunbathing and (with care) swimming. Ghialos - just what a Greek Island beach should be like.
Deserted Beach at Ghialos Egremni Beach Lefkas Beaches - Egremni Porto Katsiki
Ghialos shortly after the previous photo - due to the mountains the weather can change rapidly Egremni Beach - another delightful beach but again so isolated from anywhere. Egremni - it is a near 3km track drive down to the beach Porto Katsiki - even further down the Peninsula but on a metal road. The colour of the sea is fantastic.
Lefkas - Port Katsiki beach and cliffs Lefkas beach with no name  Pondi - Vasiliki beach Amouso Beach - Kastri Bay
Porto Katsiki is a really scenic spot and somewhere not to be missed during your holiday Un-named beach near Aghios Nikolaos Monastery - lots of sea debris - heavy shingle Pondi - Vassiliki - the beaches stretch between the two towns Amouso Beach - Kastri Bay - small shingle beach
Afteli Beach Mikras Ghialos Beach Dhesimi Bay small beaches at Dhesimi Bay
Afteli Beach - a scenic little stoney beach Roudha - Mikras Ghialos Beach - another scenic beach tucked deep inside Roudha Bay Dhesimi Bay - there are several small shingle beaches to be found alongside the track here. Santa Maura end of Dhesimi Bay - nice beach with tavernas etc. plus a camp site
